ITINERARY

Day 1 – Your Alaska Railroad Vacation Begins - Anchorage

Welcome to Anchorage, the perfect way to start your Alaska train vacation! Spend the day at leisure appreciating this vibrant city with its unique frontier spirit in anticipation of the coming days exploring the surrounding wilderness. Relax in the Sheraton, your home for the night, with its own unique style and breathtaking backdrop.


Day 2 – Onboard the Coastal Classic – Anchorage to Seward
An early morning sees you off on the Alaska Railroad as you board the Coastal Classic speeding away to Seward. Relax in comfort as you gaze at the beautiful scenery passing by. Although reluctant to leave the Coastal Classic a new opportunity for sightseeing awaits on your cruise into the Kenai Fjords National Park. This will be the first chance of many to get up close and personal with the incredible beauty of Alaska’s remote wilderness. The amazing beauty of nature is everywhere on Alaska train vacations!

Day 3 – Seward to Alyeska with Alaska Railroad
Spend the morning getting to know more of the real Alaska with unique experiences like dog-sledding, eating at a traditional Alaskan roadhouse, and climbing alongside the majestic Exit Glacier.

Continue your Alaska train vacation by traveling by train to Girdwood, before making your home for the night in a luxurious resort situated amongst towering trees, mountains, and glaciers. A truly Alaskan experience.


Day 4 – Heli-Glacier Landing on Alaska Vacations
Today is sure to be a highlight, with an awe-inspiring flight aboard a helicopter taking you closer than ever before to the incredible and beautiful glaciers. You will land on one of these ancient marvels and bear witness to a breathtaking sight – a 360 degree panoramic view of the translucent blue valleys and mountains. Be sure to bring a camera! Reflect on all you’ve seen as you travel by Alaska Railroad back to Anchorage.

Day 5 – Denali Star
Once more setting off into the wilds you depart for Denali National Park aboard the historic Denali Star. Aboard the famous Alaska train you will witness beautiful views and learn more about the country you are exploring with expert narration. Unwind in the McKinley Village resort.

Day 6 – Experience Denali on Alaska Train Vacations
Wanting to see even more on your Alaska adventure? Today is full of activities offering fresh perspectives on Alaskan wilderness and Alaskan wildlife! The morning will be spent on a scenic floating trip along the upper Nenana River. This afternoon drive deep into the Denali tundra; stop to check out the vast amounts of wildlife experience the wonder of Mount McKinley.

Day 7 – Denali to Anchorage with Alaska Railroad
Today is in your hands as you take the wheel for an exciting mini jeep vacation. You will explore Denali’s backcountry on a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler in this spectacular off-road journey led by a knowledgeable guide. Relax after the excitement of the jeep with a trip back to Anchorage onboard the Denali Star.

Day 8 – Farewell
With plenty of memories to take with you, say goodbye to Alaska as your Alaska Railroad adventure comes to an end.
