Tips for Alaska Travel and Alaska Vacations

- Don’t miss out on the smoked (or candied) salmon
- If authenticity is key when hunting out souvenirs, be sure to check for a "Made in Alaska" tag
- Don’t feed Alaskan wildlife!
- Try the saltwater taffy
- If traveling by Alaska rail from Anchorage, make the short walk to the Alaska Railroad Station early. Seating inside the station can be limited.
- If cruising Alaska’s fjords or ocean, bring something for sea sickness as a preventative measure. You don’t want a little tummy upset to get in the way of spotting the wildlife!
- Bring insect repellant to avoid being bothered by all things buzzing.
- Check your supply of US $ before arriving. If you have a busy schedule with early morning departures, you could find yourself short on cash.
- Dress in layers and be prepared for unpredictable weather.
- Picture ID is required to buy alcohol anywhere in Alaska.
